So what does the Data Science Innovation Co-Lab involve?

It’s a 12-week Innovation Sprint where we will support your business in taking your product or service to a new level. We want to help you make big breakthroughs with your ingenious products and services. We’ll do that by providing you with unique access to GCHQ technologists, industry experts and dedicated coaches.

What problems would we like to solve?

Inconsistent or biased information can mislead citizens and erode public confidence in the UK’s businesses. Data can be manipulated or falsified for the purpose of fraud taking advantage of the most vulnerable in our society. Our Co-Lab wants to harness data science, machine learning and AI techniques with tangible products or services.

Are you working on technology right now that could address these questions:

  • How can biased, partial or anomalous information be identified and managed while still providing valuable insights?
  • Can we use open-source data to fill gaps in our perspectives?
  • How can we automatically collect data across multiple sources, overcoming format differences and contradictions?
  • How can we deduce recommendations with appropriate measures of confidence?

What do we bring to the table?

GCHQ and UP offer unique tailored technical and business mentorship to start-ups and SMEs with innovative products and services. We can help address data integrity, scaling efforts to highlight the level of confidence with which to treat data and highlight potentially skewed sources.

GCHQ’s Serious and Organised Crime Mission aims to reduce the social and financial harm that serious and organised crime causes in the UK. For relevant start-ups, this data-orientated challenge could be a fantastic opportunity to refine products and solutions that could contribute to vital activities such as keeping children safe online and prevention of fraud. Our partnership with The Landing MediaCityUK means you will benefit from their considerable network of contacts in the tech ecosystem.
